The Prolam PL17 Non-Visual Grade Posts are structurally engineered timber elements with high strength and dimensional stability, good load carrying capacity, superior fire resistance, and are manufactured from select quality pine timber. These are intended intended for use in applications where appearance is unimportant. All appearance blemishes are permitted in this grade. The surfaces are machined, but machine skip is permissible and blemishes, voids and manufacturing will remain unrepaired. Loose, knots, wane, pith and open knot holes may be present.

The laminations are machine finger jointed if required, with glue being cured by state of the art European press systems and controlled temperature. Prolam PL17 posts are manufactured to the wide range of sizes specified by the Prolam online software program.
Prolam comes standard in a common range of sizes that match standard timber sizes for easy integration, as well as any sized made to order beams. Standard sized Prolam is the cheapest large cross section structural timber in New Zealand, better the cost of large cross section SG8 or SG17.
